Application Fee and Waiver
Application Fee
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions charges a nonrefundable application fee of $75 ($90 for international, $40 for returning students). If you have submitted your application through ApplyTexas or the Common App without paying this fee and do not qualify for a fee waiver, you may pay the application fee using the button below. Information about fee waivers is provided below.
Fee Waiver Requests
Texas State is committed to providing fee waivers to students with demonstrated need. The fee waiver program is designed to cover the cost of applying for admission to Texas State’s undergraduate programs. Approximately 30% of applicants receive a fee waiver.
Application fee waivers are subject to the approval of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and are granted based on evidence of financial need. To qualify, you must be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or a student identified under Senate Bill 1528, and demonstrate that paying the application fee causes a serious financial hardship. International applicants, non-degree seeking students, and applicants seeking a second bachelor's degree are not eligible for the fee waiver option and are required to pay the application fee.
Students who qualify for the application fee waiver also qualify to have their housing prepayment deferred by the Department of Housing and Residential Life.
NOTE: Checking the fee waiver box on your application will not satisfy the fee waiver requirement. Qualifying documentation is also required. |

Qualifying Documents
You may demonstrate that you qualify for an application fee waiver through one of the following options:
1. FAFSA (for freshman, transfer, and returning student applicants)
You may qualify for an application fee waiver if your Student Aid Report (SAR) indicates an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of 5,000 or less. To obtain a fee waiver using this method, submit the FAFSA. Be sure that Texas State is listed as a receiving institution on the application so we receive the necessary information to approve your request automatically. The FAFSA is available in October each year for the following academic year.

2. SAT, ACT, and NACAC Fee Waivers (for freshman applicants only)
