What is the concurrent enrollment program?
TXST’s concurrent program allows students to enroll at two schools simultaneously and earn college credit toward their associate and bachelor’s degrees. Students can start and finish both degrees at the community college.

What are the advantages of the concurrent enrollment program?
Students can earn a bachelor’s degree from Texas State University without leaving their community college. Students will also save thousands in overall tuition while still benefitting from all the perks of being a TXST student and receiving full support from both schools to keep them on the right track.

TXST degree programs that are 100% online are not included in this concurrent enrollment program.

Will the bachelor’s degree be awarded from Texas State University?
Yes, students will be awarded a bachelor’s degree from Texas State University, and students will earn an associate degree at the same time from Collin College.

Yes, students can meet with a TXST Regional Coordinator online or at the community college—whichever works best for them.

When does the concurrent enrollment program begin?
The concurrent enrollment program begins Fall 2025. The TXST admissions application deadlines are:

Are international students eligible for these programs?
At this time, the appropriate approvals are in place for international students needing a F1 visa to enroll in the co-enrollment program at Collin College only.
The appropriate approvals are not in place to allow international students needing F1 visas to participate in the co-enrollment program at Dallas College. Texas State University is currently seeking the approval for international students needing an F1 visa to be able to enroll in the Dallas College program as well, and once it is granted by the Department of Homeland Security, the restriction will be lifted. There is no timeline at this moment on when approval will be granted.

Financial aid and scholarships

How will financial aid work?
A student will apply for financial aid at only one school via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Enrollment at both schools will be combined to determine a student’s financial aid eligibility, and students will be responsible for paying their registration bill at each school.

Are there any financial incentives?
Yes. After earning 60 credit hours, students in the concurrent enrollment program will receive a $4,000 TXST Local Scholarship. The scholarship will be disbursed $1,000 per semester for up to four consecutive semesters or the earning of a bachelor’s degree (whichever comes first).

Do students need to apply for admission at both schools?
Yes, students need to apply and be admitted to both schools and can apply through Apply Texas or The Common Application. On your TXST application, select a program that is offered by TXST at Collin College. Students should meet with their TXST Regional Coordinator to confirm course readiness for concurrent enrollment before applying.

Students should send this information to both schools. Each school must have official copies of all transcripts and test scores.
